5 Things You Should Do Before Your First Bikini Wax

These five steps will help you prepare physically and mentally for your first bikini wax. Before you get a bikini wax, you should know how to prep.

  1. FIND A GOOD WAXER
Do your research and find someone that is experienced and uses quality wax and products. A quick google search or referral from a friend will help you find a good person. Similar to your hair stylist, you get what you pay for with waxing services. Highly discounted services are not always the best services, and if you don’t have a good first experience, it might leave you not ever wanting to try it again. (Note: It get’s easier every time!)

  2. GROW OUT YOUR HAIR
Your hair should be at least a ¼ inch long, imagine the size of a grain of rice. Have more than that? No problem, don’t trim it. We would much rather have it too long than too short. If we need to trim it, we will during your appointment. Please don’t trim it yourself, there is a possibility of it being too short and then we will not be able to effectively remove all of the hair.

  3. LIGHTLY EXFOLIATE
Using a dry brush or exfoliating gloves, lightly exfoliate the areas to be waxed. This will lift the hair off the skin and help for easier removal.

  4. FRESHEN UP
Take a quick shower or use a wipe prior to coming to your appointment. This will remove any sweat, lotion or oil from the skin which will make for a better experience.  If you are nervous, taking a shower might also help calm your nerves and open your pores for a more comfortable experience.

  5. MENTALLY PREPARE YOURSELF
It’s good to have an idea of what you are getting yourself into prior to your service, so mentally prepare yourself for showing your nether regions to a stranger who will NOT be judging any of your parts, but looking at the way the hair grows and removing the hair for you as quickly and as efficiently as she can. She might also have you help hold areas, that’s normal, this is so they can keep skin taut to get all the hair the first time around.

Have a great first bikini wax and enjoy all the smoothness you will have after!
