Get Your Skin Party Ready for the Holidays

Get Your Skin Party Ready

With this year’s holiday party season upon us, it's important you have the face to go along with your fabulous ensemble. Chaos, shopping, planning, juggling work and kids and everything else this time of year leaves our skin looking as stressed as our brain. You don’t want that gorgeous outfit topped off with a face from The Walking Dead. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Get your skin ready for the festivities with these tips below!

Step #1 Wash and tone your face.

Step #2 After washing and toning your face, even out your skin tone and texture with a gentle, yet effective exfoliant. This will slough off dead skin cells and refine pores, leaving the face smooth and ready for Step #3.

Step #3 Apply a mask. This mask is different than your typical treatment masks. Before a party, you want a mask that soothes, hydrates, and plumps the skin all in one! Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, collagen or aloe. Leave this mask on up to 20 minutes, rinse with warm water and then proceed to Step #4.

Step #4 Apply serums to any areas of concern. For breakouts, spot treat with highly effective serum that will help reduce inflammation and irritation overnight.  Look for fast acting ingredients like salicylic acid and tea tree oil. For redness, use a serum that has advanced soothing and anti-redness properties. Ingredients like chamomile, lavender or marine algae have been found to be highly effective. Wait a minute before you move to Step #5 to give the serums a chance to penetrate.

Step #5 Moisturize. A nice light moisturizer for breakout prone skin, a heavier one for dry/mature skin.

Step #6 Lastly, apply your eye and lip treatments. These areas need all the hydration they can get during the cooler months.

Step #1 Wash and tone your face.

Step #2. Apply a serum. For oily skin, add a shine control serum in your t-zone and one with peptides around your eyes, lips, fine lines and wrinkles.  For dryer/aging skin, apply one with hyaluronic acid and peptides all over the face to hydrate, plump and lift, helping you looks younger and have a more refreshed appearance. Wait a minute or two before moving on to Step #3

Step #3 Moisturize with a light moisturizer. If your party is outside during the day, add a sunscreen with an SPF of 30. If it’s at night or inside, you don’t need sunscreen.

PRO TIP: Wearing sunscreen underneath your makeup at an evening event is not recommended as it blocks the light from the camera’s flash, which leaves your skin’s tone and texture looking uneven or patchy.

Step #4 This is the step for makeup if you wear it.

Step #5 Finish look with applying translucent powder over the skin to set product or makeup. This also helps reduce the appearance of oiliness on the skin.

Most importantly, let all the stress go and enjoy yourself! Own it girl. You earned it.
